Yay! I’ts Friday again. So, you probably already know what time it is. It’s time to learn a bit more about the story behind another beautiful sneaker. This week we will take a closer look at a pair that released 3 years ago, in 2018. Definitely one of my personal faves, the Jordan 1 High Satin Shattered Backboard.
Before we zoom in on the Jordan 1 High Satin Shattered Backboard, we will take a look at the original Jordan 1 High Shattered Backboard. The original Jordan 1 High Shattered Backboard released in 2015. It’s hard to believe now, but let me tell you this. When this pair released, many people passed on them. But nowadays, it’s one of the most wanted non-original colorways from the Jordan 1 silhouette.
I guess you’re also wondering where the name ‘Shattered Backboard’ comes from. On August 1985, after Jordan’s season with the Chicago Bulls, he played an exhibition game in Trieste, Italy. The absolute highlight of this game was Michael Jordan’s dunk. So powerful that Jordan shattered the glass of the backboard. ‘Shattered Backboard’. He was wearing the black, white and orange colors that game. That’s where the name and colorway come from.
Then in 2016, a year after the release of the Jordan 1 High Shattered Backboard, the Jordan 1 High Reverse Shattered Backboard, also known as the Jordan 1 High Shattered Backboard 2.0 released.
2 years later, the Jordan 1 High Satin Shattered Backboard released, exclusively made for women and inspired by the original release from 2015. The same colorways, only this time with a satin upper, premium leather, embroidered logo’s and a full translucent orange outsole.
