We're back with another 'Get to know'. In this series we will talk with some people in the sneaker community to learn more about their passion and the person behind the sneaker collection. This week we will talk with one of Belgium’s biggest female sneakerheads, Klaara (@devosklaara). She started collecting only two and a half years ago, but already has a collection full of heat. We will talk about her passion for sneakers, her holy grail and more!
Hi Klaara! We’re happy to have you here. For those who don’t know you, can you please tell us something more about who Klaara De Vos is?
My name is Klaara, I’m a 20 years old living in Belgium. I’ve been studying business management/ marketing for the past two years. Next to school, I work in a bakery and I’m also a content creator on Instagram and youtube in my free time, where I express my love for sneakers and fashion. YES! That’s a lot but I prefer to stay busy. Something that might surprise you after checking my social media Is that I’m actually quite shy and introverted.
On your Instagram feed we see an impressive sneakerwall! When and how did your passion for sneakers start?
I haven’t been collecting for that long. Two and a half year to be precise. I live in a small town, so I had never seen somebody wear Jordan’s or any other ‘special’ shoe for the longest time. When I started to be more active on Instagram, I did see these sneakers pass by sometimes and I did like them, but the resale prices were too high because I was only working 1 day a week. There was 1 day at school where we had exchange students from the Netherlands over and 1 of the girls was wearing the Jordan 1 shadow. I couldn’t keep my eyes of her shoes; it was love at first sight. I went home and bought that pair right away. Since that moment I started learning more about the history and how I could stay up to date with the releases.
What’s your holy grail and do you already have your grail in your collection?
I have a lot of sneakers I see as grails, but my HOLY grail is definitely the Nike dunk low De La Soul from 2015. I love the bold colorway, the materials they used, and I can’t forget to mention that I love De La Soul’s music.
Can you share your top 3 sneakers in your collection?
This is a difficult one because I change my opinion about my favorite sneakers so much. If I have to choose then number 3 will be the yeezy slides, if those are considered sneakers, I wear them every day and they are so comfy. On number 2 we have the Jordan 1 shadow, it was the sneaker that started everything, and you can wear this pair with so many different outfits. On number one we have Jordan 1 game royal, I love everything about this shoe (and to be honest, I’m a bit obsessed with blue sneakers) the materials, the colorway, the sail midsole, it’s just the most amazing colorway I’ve ever seen on a Jordan 1.
If you could wear only one pair of sneakers for the rest of your life, which one would you choose and why?
Okay so I will be going for a pair that I don’t own yet (but it’s on my list). I’d go for the Jordan 1 85 neutral grey. Jordan 1 silhouette is my favorite silhouette, and the neutral colorway works with every outfit. It’s such a clean sneaker, you can’t go wrong with it.
